When celebrity photographer Billy Murray of Hosstyle Photography met retired NFL star-turned-country-musician Kyle Turley, it was the beginning of a creative partnership that brought their shared vision to life.
Kyle Turley, known for his time with the Rams, Chiefs, and Saints, is entering a new chapter as a country musician. Recently signed to a Nashville record label, Kyle was in need of fresh imagery to represent his evolving identity. He wanted photos that captured his personality and reflected his passion for this new direction. Billy Murray, known for his bold and authentic style, was brought in to handle the shoot. The two decided on a secluded VRBO property in Buffalo, New York, as the backdrop—an ideal setting for the moody and rugged look Kyle envisioned.
The Experience
From the first meeting, the connection between Kyle and Billy was effortless. “Kyle had a clear idea of what he wanted, and that made the process flow really naturally,” Billy said. “It didn’t take long for us to get into a rhythm.” Kyle came prepared with a well-thought-out wardrobe and props that aligned with the creative direction. The three-hour session was focused and productive, with both artist and athlete collaborating to achieve the perfect shots. “Kyle’s energy and vision really brought these images to life,” Billy shared. “You can tell he’s someone who puts his all into everything he does.”
The Results
The final images captured by Billy were exactly what Kyle needed—striking, powerful, and full of personality. These photos will play a central role in Kyle’s upcoming country album launch and marketing campaigns, as well as his efforts to build his brand in the hemp industry through Power Plant Depot, a Tennessee-based company he co-founded with Jim Riley.
For Billy, this project was another example of the power of collaboration. “Working with someone as driven and passionate as Kyle made this one of the most rewarding shoots I’ve done,” Billy said.
